Requirements
- Strong React and Node.js experience
- Solid JavaScript, HTML, CSS fundamentals
- SQL databases — PostgreSQL or MySQL
- GraphQL (queries, mutations, schema design)
- Shopify app development experience (must have built Shopify apps, not just worked with Shopify)
- Google Cloud Platform deployment and maintenance
- OAuth, webhooks, API security
- Git version control
- Tech stack familiarity: Frontend — React, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5/CSS3, Shopify Polaris; Backend — Node.js, GraphQL, SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL), GCP; Shopify — Admin API, Webhooks, Embedded App SDK/App Bridge, Billing API, OAuth
- Portfolio showing actual Shopify apps youve built (agencies building custom Shopify tools count)
- Soft/working-style fit: results-driven, strong communicator, critical thinker who brings solutions, engaged partner who works shoulder-to-shoulder with CTO, resilient to shifting priorities

- Work directly with the CTO on scoping; CTO handles high-level architecture, you handle execution and tactical problem-solving
- Ship features weekly: prototype quickly, refine based on feedback, and launch beta versions
- Week-by-week cadence example:
- Week 1: analyze a desired app feature, propose an implementation approach, build a working prototype by Friday
- Week 2: refine based on feedback, launch beta version
- Ongoing: ship 1–2 customer-facing features per week (mostly front-end heavy with solid back-end fundamentals)
- Implement functional patterns based on reference examples and adapt existing designs (minimal design work required)
- Turn customer feedback into working prototypes in days, not weeks
- Build micro-apps within the main platform and maintain quality while moving quickly
- Participate in daily syncs (30–60 minutes) to align and unblock, then maintain 7–7.5 hours of focused deep work; ping the team when blocked and speak up quickly when stuck
