Can I choose the hardware? What is your coding setup (IDE, OS, Build server, Cloud provider)?
You are free to use your own hardware if it's convenient for you. If not, we will send you pre-configured equipment. In any case, you will be fully supported by our Network and Helpdesk Engineers.
We are a pretty big team to choose a single variant of coding setup. Depending on your professional direction, you can select an operating system, IDE, and all the needed stuff. We will provide you with all the necessary tools and programs to make your daily work easy and effective.

Do you prefer always writing your own software for everything or use frameworks if they fit?
Using different technologies, we make each of our solutions unique. So writing your own stuff or using existing frameworks depends on the task, language, and domain specificity.
In the JVM ecosystem, it is wise to use Spring, Micronaut or Quarkus since they are bulletproof solutions for many occasions. Contrary to that, Go follows UNIX philosophy, where every program aims to solve a very narrow problem but with high efficiency; and usually, you don't follow any framework in Go.

What is your remote work policy?
We are a global company, so you have the flexibility to change countries, cities, and locations for fully remote work.
If you do Agile - how is your agile process & release cycle? How much coding vs meetings/planning?
Again, as with everything in IT – it depends. Usually, 70/30 or 80/20 is a good coding/meetings ratio for our specialists.
We practice the Agile approach; hence most of our projects have four Scrum ceremonies:

Do you have some in-house tech workshops or hackathons? Is there an educational budget?
You can be either the one learning or the one teaching, but even while teaching, you are learning. This uninterrupted circle of professional development we foster here at Avenga.
Each department has different formats of internal knowledge-sharing sessions. Also, we have tech&life talks for the whole company.
Can I work on my projects or open source for a part of time?
Avenga supports open source and contributes to several of them (Micronaut, cvurl). If that doesn't negatively affect your project - sure, kudos to you!
What do I need to do to buy a 50$ educational book on company expense?
At Avenga we have a vast professional library and, first of all, please check the required books there. If there is nothing suitable for your professional development, feel free to contact your manager and ask for everything you need.
